Intended use
For people in the UK who live with allergies, and those who care for them, to organise the allergy information they or their clinician provide, read product labels, and share that information with people they choose.

§1The problem

Allergy information is scattered

The allergy is in the GP record, the plan is a printout, pen expiry dates are on the box and pollen is in another app. Carers, grandparents and schools often work from memory.

Labels change, “may contain” wording is easy to miss, and explaining an allergy in a restaurant or abroad is hard.

§2What it does

What Epiova does

2.1Allergy profile and planRecord the allergies and plan your clinician gave you, for yourself or someone you care for, and keep them up to date.
2.2Label readerScan a barcode or photograph a label. Epiova shows the ingredient words that mention allergens on your list, and the “may contain” wording separately, so you can read them yourself.
2.3Allergy cardA clear card with your allergies and emergency contacts that you can share by link with a school, a childminder or a restaurant.
2.4Reminders and pollenReminders for pen expiry dates and appointments you set, and public pollen forecasts with alerts at levels you choose.

§3Intended purpose

What it is for, and what it is not

For people in the UK who live with allergies, and those who care for them, to organise the allergy information they or their clinician provide, read product labels, and share that information with people they choose.

It is

  • A place to keep allergy details and a clinician’s plan
  • A label reader that shows which ingredient words mention the allergens you list
  • A way to share an allergy card and set reminders

It is not

  • A diagnosis, or advice about symptoms, reactions or treatment
  • A judgement about whether a food is suitable for anyone
  • A replacement for reading the label, asking staff, or your allergy team’s advice

Medical device regulation. Designed to sit outside the UK Medical Devices Regulations: it stores and displays information people provide, shows label text, and makes no clinical decision about anyone. We will confirm this with the MHRA before release.

§4Evidence

Assurance, as it stands today

What a DPO, IT security team or commissioner will ask for, and where each item is. We only mark something in place when we could send it to you today.
