These are preview builds. The Mac app is signed and notarised by Apple. The Windows app is not yet code-signed, so Windows warns you before it opens: choose More info, then Run anyway.

Copying screenshots into Word is a poor use of skilled time
Every go-live, upgrade and audit needs guides, SOPs and signed test evidence. Producing them by hand costs hours of senior time per document, and one unredacted name is a reportable breach. Make that time count.

What it is for, and what it is not
For staff in any organisation, to record how a task is done in their software and to produce guides, procedures and test evidence from that recording.
It is

It is not
- Software that informs or makes clinical or care decisions
- A system of record for patient or customer data
- A replacement for your own validation and approval processes
Medical device regulation. Not a medical device: it documents how software is used and makes no clinical or care decisions about anyone. It can capture screens from clinical systems, so it finds and blurs personal data on the computer that took the screenshot.

Free for 14 days: your licence key arrives straight away, and your card is first charged when the trial ends. Cancel before then and you pay nothing; cancel later and your licence runs to the end of the period paid.

- Why is it called StepE?
- The E is for evidence. Every step is captured as it happened, with its screenshot, then ticked off and signed in StepE, so the finished document shows what was done and who approved it.
- How can an auditor check a StepE PDF?
- With StepE Enterprise, StepE can seal a PDF with the computer’s security chip when it saves it, and does for test evidence, signed documents and go-live packs. Anyone can check that a file has not changed since, and who signed it, free at quovirahealth.co.uk/apps/stepe/verify. The check runs in the browser and nothing is uploaded.
- Where are our guides and screenshots kept?
- On each person’s computer, and on your own StepE Server if you use one. Nothing is sent to QuoVira Health.
- Does it work without an internet connection?
- Yes. Recording, editing and exporting work offline. StepE Server needs no internet access, apart from reaching Microsoft if you sign in with Entra ID.
